Resumen

Introducción Según la OMS la obesidad es definida como una acumulación anormal o excesiva de grasa que puede ser perjudicial para la salud. A pesar de que los estudiantes de enfermería y carreras afines serán promotores de salud, la prevalencia de sobrepeso y obesidad en esta población se reporta en múltiples estudios^1-5como consecuencia del estilo de vida adoptado, caracterizado por ayunos prolongados, insomnio y sedentarismo.  

Objetivo Interpretar los sentimientos que la obesidad provoca en los estudiantes de enfermería que la padecen.

Metodología Estudio cualitativo, fenomenológico interpretativo, realizado en la Facultad de Estudios Superiores Iztacala, la recolección de datos se llevó a través de entrevista en profundidad, observación, notas de campo. Participaron cinco estudiantes de la Lic. En Enfermería que viven el fenómeno a investigar aceptando participar previo consentimiento informado y estableciendo la protección a la intimidad. Para el análisis de la información se utilizó el método propuesto por Giorgi.

Resultados y discusión Los sentimientos asociados con la obesidad provocan en las estudiantes tristeza, vergüenza, insatisfacción etc., afectando la autoestima. Lo cual coincide con otros estudios que indican que presentar obesidad las hace vulnerables al estigma, critica, burla, prejuicios, rechazo y discriminación. ^6-7

Conclusión La obesidad en estudiantes de enfermería no solo afecta la salud física y emocional, sino que también limita su capacidad de realizar actividades personales y aquellas relacionadas con el cuidado.

Abstract

Introduction According to the World Health Organization the obesity is defined as an accumulation abnormal or excessive of fat which it can be harmful to the health. Although the nursing students and other related careers will be promoter of healthiness, the prevalence of overweight and obesity in this population is reported in multiple researches^1-5 as consequence of the lifestyle adopted, characterized by dragged on fasts, insomnia and sedentary lifestyle.

Objective Interpreting the feelings that the obesity provokes in nursing students which have it.

Methodology Qualitative research, interpretive phenomenological, made in the Faculty of Superior Schooling Iztacala, the recollection of data was carried through in-depth interview, observation and field notes. Five Nursing Students participated which live the phenomenon to investigate, accepting to participate with prior knowing consent and establishing the intimity protection. For the analysis of the information the method proposed by Giorgi was used.

Results and discussion The feelings associated with obesity provoke in the students sadness, shamefulness, insatisfaction, etc, hurting the self-esteem. Which it coincides with other researches which indicate that having obesity makes them vulnerable to stigma, critiques, bullying, prejudices, rejection and discrimination.^6-7

Conclusion The obesity in nursing students not only affects to healthiness physically and emotional but also limits their capacity to perform personal activities and those relationated to caring.
